One Man. One Treadmill. One Extraordinary Mission.

Meet Jay Stevens. After surviving a devastating helicopter crash in 2018 that left him with a spinal cord injury and told he might never walk again, Jay Stevens refused to let that define his future. Today, he continues to inspire thousands by turning adversity into action.

Jay set out to become the first paraplegic athlete to walk continuously on a treadmill for 24 hours.

Months of relentless training led to one incredible day where every step represented resilience, determination and hope for those living with spinal cord injury and a Guinness World Records attempt.

Jay didn’t take on this challenge for personal recognition. He walked to raise awareness of spinal cord injury research and to support the Perry Cross Spinal Research Foundation’s mission to find a cure for paralysis. Every kilometre completed helped shine a light on the life-changing research taking place.

Thanks to supporters’ generosity, Jay’s challenge raised an incredible $22,000+ for the Perry Cross Spinal Research Foundation. These funds will directly support pioneering spinal cord injury research and bring hope to thousands of Australians living with paralysis.

These challenges follow Stevens’ landmark completion of the 78km Bondi to Manly Ultramarathon in October 2025, where he became the first paraplegic athlete to complete the punishing coastal course using adaptive walking equipment, determination, and years of relentless rehabilitation. We are incredibly grateful to Jay for his passion, courage and unwavering commitment to our Foundation. His determination reminds us that progress happens one step at a time – and that together, we are moving closer to a future where paralysis can be cured.

Thank you, Jay, for inspiring us all.

Starting at the famous Bondi Pavilion, the run follows the 80km Bondi to Manly walking track around Sydney Harbour. Runners weave their way along spectacular cliff tops to Watsons Bay then hug the harbour foreshore through national parks, around iconic Australian landmarks and cultural sites, crossing the finish line at Manly Beach.
