“If You Can, You Must”: Em Carey’s Extraordinary NYC Marathon Impact

Website News Preview (4)
A huge thank you to the incredible Em Carey for taking on the New York Marathon and raising a staggering $110,213 for the Perry Cross Spinal Research Foundation!

In 2013, Em’s life changed forever when she fell 14,000 feet during a skydiving accident, leaving her with a spinal cord injury and living with paraplegia. Through years of rehabilitation and remarkable determination she was able to walk again, and now, she continues to push boundaries and inspire others every day.

Living by her powerful motto, “If you can, you must,” Em embodies courage, compassion and purpose in everything she does.

Her reason for walking in the marathon goes far beyond “walking for those who can’t,” she reminds us that spinal cord injuries take so much more than just the ability to walk — they take independence and the simple joys many of us take for granted such as feeling the warmth of the sun, taking a deep breath, or being alone in a room.

Em’s extraordinary spirit and unwavering commitment help drive us all and reinforce the belief that Everything Is Possible.
