As part of SIP Week 2025, two of our incredible Cure Crusader Ambassadors – Kurt Drysdale and Joanna Fowler – had the opportunity to share their journeys, raise awareness about spinal cord injury and speak about the important work of the Foundation with supporters at Boutique Business House and KPMG Gold Coast.
At Boutique Business House, Kurt delivered his first presentation as a Cure Crusader Ambassador, his courage and honesty deeply moved the room, leaving a powerful impression on everyone present. We were touched to receive this feedback from Boutique afterwards:
“Kurt was absolutely incredible; his story was not only deeply inspiring but also a powerful reminder of the challenges and strength of those living with spinal cord injuries. He has truly left a lasting impact on all of us and raised awareness in such a meaningful way.”
We are so grateful to Boutique for their warm welcome and ongoing support of the Foundation, and to Kurt for bravely sharing his story to help drive awareness and research towards a cure for paralysis.

Meanwhile, at a SIP Week morning tea with KPMG Gold Coast, Cure Crusader Ambassador Joanna Fowler captivated the audience with her personal story. A huge thank you to Adam Twemlow and his team for hosting us and giving Joanna the opportunity to raise awareness. Her journey and her courage in facing adversity and the challenges that come with living with a spinal cord injury was very powerful and moving.
Joanna’s story also highlighted the importance of this year’s World Spinal Cord Injury Day theme: Fall Prevention, Spinal Cord Protection. Joanna’s own injury was the result of a fall — a powerful reminder of how crucial prevention and awareness are in reducing risk.

Thank you to both Kurt and Joanna for their courage in sharing their lived experiences, and to Boutique Business House and KPMG for giving them the opportunity to speak. Together, we’re raising awareness and driving hope for a cure.
