International Spinal Research Trust Meeting

Aust House
Our Founder, Perry Cross and Chairman, Tom Ray travelled to London to attend the International Spinal Research Trust Meeting in September. Professor James St John, head of the Spinal Injury Project and Clem Jones Centre for Neurobiology and Stem Cell Research was invited to speak and present on the Cell Transplantation and Rehabilitation Human Clinical Trial. The conference was attended by leading researchers and industry partners across the globe who are working on a range of discovery research and therapies for treating spinal cord injury. Professor James St John gave an impressive presentation on Griffith’s olfactory cell therapy and plans for a clinical trial.

Throughout the conference talks and discussions were centred around enhancing research direction and ensuring clinical trials are designed for success. Perry Cross and Tom Ray enjoyed hearing firsthand about other SCI repair projects currently being undertaken in other parts of the world. It was encouraging to see the incredible progress being made in research, progress which we might have thought unimaginable 10 or 15 years ago. It was also confirmed that the research we and our generous donors are supporting at Griffith University is truly world class and world leading.

The PCSRF team and Professor James St John also visited Australia House and had a meeting with the Deputy Commissioner, Elisabeth Bowes, to discuss the vision of bringing the Spinal Injury Project to a global market. (Photo 2 and 3 below)

The team also enjoyed the opportunity to catch up with donor and Cure Crusader José Molina Marco Presidente de Fundación Proyecto Lázarus who travelled from Spain to London to meet and discuss fundraising plans and research progress. (Photo 4 below).

Perry Cross and the Foundation believe ‘𝓔𝓿𝓮𝓻𝔂𝓽𝓱𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓘𝓼 𝓟𝓸𝓼𝓼𝓲𝓫𝓵𝓮’. Perry has dedicated his life to curing paralysis and has shown he will travel far and wide to make this a reality for all those suffering with spinal cord injury and paralysis
