Summer Safety Campaign Success!

2019 12 04 Bwp Perry 2 2540

In an effort to save people from spinal cord injuries or worse, this campaign encouraged sensible behaviour over the 2019-2020 summer and highlighted the risks and hazards to be aware of while at the beach, pool and on the roads.

This year we encouraged everyone to get out and enjoy summer and to also take care and be aware. We partnered with Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate, Chief Lifeguard Warren Young, Gold Coast Private Emergency Care Centre Director, Dr Anthony Padowitz and the Queensland Police to get this message to our community. Check out the media launch for this campaign below.

We also had wonderful support from our Summer Safety Ambassadors Nick Dempsey and Kristee Shepherd who kindly shared their stories and reminded people that a spinal injury can happen to anyone, any time.

With over 15,000 cases of spinal injury currently recorded in Australia and approximately 400 new cases arising each year we are continuing to work hard to raise awareness and prevent injury. This campaign received thousands of hits on our website and social media pages, strong media coverage and has saved lives over summer.
