PCSRF Conference Scholarship for Dr Marie-Laure Vial
Tue 09, May 2017
Dr Marie-Laure Vial, one of the very talented scientists currently working on the OCT, recently attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) - Global Entrepreneurship Bootcamp, 2017, which was held in Brisbane in March.
Marie was fortunate to be selected as one of only 124 successful candidates from over 6100 applicants.
"It was a very short but also a very long week, in which I experienced the challenges of the first years of a startup life compressed into a few days."
"The New Ventures Leadership program allowed me to acquire and put into practice critical entrepreneurial skills, required to successfully bring a product to market, including teamwork, leadership, communication, conflict resolution and pitching in front of potential investors."
"The experience and knowledge gained from this course will prove invaluable for our translational spinal cord research. I also had the privilege to meet brilliant minds from more than 35 countries around the world. Finally, I’m very grateful to the Perry Cross Spinal Research Foundation for giving me the opportunity to attend this bootcamp.”
Marie is the team leader of the 3D and Drug Discovery Project that forms part of the OCT Project. Marie is currently funded by PCSRF and is based at the Menzies Institute, Griffith University Gold Coast Campus.
